Hello Graduate Students!
Welcome to our new GHA website. Here you will find all of the information, tools, and resources we can provide you. If you are new to the program, welcome! We all look forward to getting to know you this year. If you are returning, welcome back! Whether you are on campus or away for research, the GHA is your go-to for whatever you need, and we hope that you will make use of us.
The GHA Executive Board has been hard at work this summer coming up with a game plan for the year. Our goals for the 2014-2015 school year are two-fold. Firstly, and most importantly, we want to help our graduate students succeed. That means providing vital information, advocating on your behalf, and making sure that we have a variety of professionalization options available. In the coming weeks, you will see a lot of information about Alt-Ac careers, applying to Ph.D. programs, workshopping your writing for conferences and publications, and advice on teaching, balancing your busy life, and dealing with your annoying cube-mate. On second thought, we’ll leave that last one up to you.
Our second goal is one of community-building. Being in the history program is more than just school or work–we are a network of professional and social possibilities and it’s very important for us to cultivate a positive experience for each of our students. We want everyone to feel connected and to actively participate in life here in the department.
As the school year gets ready to kick-off, we hope that you’ll take a few moments to browse our work-in-progress website. In particular, check out our “About Us” page and get connected to us via social media. We love feedback, so if you have any suggestions or comments about content that you’d like to see, please email BostonCollegeGHA@gmail.com.
